Professional Year Program in Australia
A Professional
Year Program (PYP) is a professional development program that combines
practical experience and formal learning for international students who have
graduated from a University in Australia. This is a 12 month program and is
available in the fields of engineering, accounting and computer science as the
demand for skilled graduates is very high in these areas.

Year Program Accounting: Course Structure
The SMIPA
(Accounting) Professional Year course is a 44 week program with three stages:
Stage 1: Theory Classes
The first stage
of the SMIPA Professional Year program is theory class where the students is
provided with lessons on communication skills and how to integrate their
accounting knowledge at workplace.
Stage 2:
Integrated Learning Placement (Internship)
This is the part
that offers the students with real life skills needed to be a part of
Australian work culture. The students get to put the knowledge in practice and
this enhances the resume too. The students are provided with a 12 week
professional internship. Many students get jobs in the same office where they
work as an intern if the performs well.
Stage 3:
Practical Applications
This is the
final stage. During the final stage of the program with the students need to
combine Professional Year classroom studies and accounting internship placement
experiences in preparation for the next stage– a professional accounting career
in Australia.

helps engineering graduates to develop skills for workplace.
Program structure
Practical classes for 32
weeks where the learn about interview techniques communication skills and also Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and
Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental (OHS&E) processes via face-to-face
workshops and online resources.
Internship for 12
weeks (full time): The student is placed at an engineering workplace where a
mentor helps you to learn the practical skills. The person also gains a lot of
hands on experience, interacts with peers and become a professional member of
Engineers Australia which turns out to be very helpful in the long run.
Upon successful
completion of Professional Year Program a student is not only job ready but
gains 5 extra points towards Permanent Residency in Australia. The person
becomes eligible to apply for 5 migration points that can be used for all
points test visas.
